"And Then There Were None"

Post by Jeff Jeff Revolution » Wed Nov 14, 2007 3:24 pm

As usual, I'm in the fall play at my school, New Palestine High School. Last year was Shakespeare, and although it looks great on a college resume, it kinda sucked if you wanted to watch some decent entertainment.

This year will be different. We are doing "And Then There Were None," a murder mystery by Agatha Christie, which is personally a very good book, in my opinion.

The basic storyline is that 10 people are invited to an island by an old friend. One by one, they begin to die. They must determine which of them is the killer before the killer gets them.

The performances are on November 16 and 17 at 7:30 pm. Try to arrive a little early to purchase tickets.

Here is my school's address:
New Palestine High School
1 School St.
New Palestine, IN 46163
(317) 861-4417

Please let me know if you're trying to go. I might be able to help a bit with directions or other information. Also, you could say this is my "retirement performance." Due to how strenuous the play is on my schedule, it looks like I will be unofficially retiring from the play unless I change my mind. It was the reason that I could not attend DAT for both days over the last 2 years.

Thanks,
Jeff

Thanks for at least showing interest in going, Potter. Sorry that it's a big drive...New Pal's in the middle of nowhere.

If anyone here is still planning on going, anticipate it starting at 7 p.m. I've heard conflicting reports of both 7 and 7:30, so it might be a better idea to look at the earlier start time.

Last night's performance went really well. Everybody knew their lines, and when somebody messed a word or two up, we all covered nicely.

The only real awkward moment onstage was created by me. In the dressing room, I found a dime. I said to myself, "this is going to be my lucky dime!" So, I put it in my character's front jacket pocket for good luck.

During the first act, there is a part where I put my hands in my jacket pockets and then take them out very quickly. That sonofabitch dime came out and rolled all around the stage. It didn't just clink and stop. It had to make several large rotations around the stage before falling down. Everybody had to cover their lines while the audience kept looking in a circle.

That dime is still on stage as we speak (didn't have the nerve to pick it up, barring a future tragedy), so I'll pick it up tonight before the show and duct tape it to my dressing room mirror.

As again, I would like to invite anyone and everyone to tonight's show. Tickets are $5, and the show starts at 7:30. The school's address is in the first post. Maybe try and get a hold of me if you are going to come, so I can know to look for you (either by PM or phone call).
