What'd you think of the April Fool's Joke?

Post by CgSquall » Sat Apr 02, 2005 8:47 am

Personally...I didn't really like it, could've been bad if somebody actually needed to post something remotely urgent at all.

Plenty of productivity is lost on April 1st in the name of stupid prank humor. We're not exactly a life-or-death organization here. I really can't think of anything anyone would have to say here that couldn't wait a day.

As it was, I got about one third congratulatory messages (via PM and IM) for staging a unique and funny prank/hoax, one third "hate mail" from people who either didn't find it funny or otherwise think April Fools is a waste of time (it is), and one third panic from people who actually thought something horrible was happening.

As expected, it proved to be an enlightening and often entertaining social experiment revealing people's tastes and responses for those who found ways to appreciate it.

Many of those who enjoyed it have already shared a laugh with me. Sorry to anyone who didn't like it. Take heart, April Fools is but once a year and I'd hope you wouldn't expect me to be serious all the time anyway. :P

For me personally it seemed a bit more annoying than funny, because I had written a rather long post and then it disappeared. But I'm not a fan of April's Fools day anyway, so whatever, no harm done I guess...

And I have to admit that it was funny that Grubb's random thoughts thread pretty much looked like it always had, even with people's posts changing...

I thought it was a cool idea and quite funny as people came to the realization of what was going on, though by the end of the day I was just waiting for it to be over.

THE BOARD WAS HAXXORED!

Yeah I knew what was going on from the get go... Just had a feeling about it. Then by the end of the night me and erica starting talking in the subject lines, then we got really bored when the board was down so made an IndyDDR BLOWS chat room (blowed cause of the joke) and a bunch of us started talkig in there and eventually I feel asleep.

Ah, the effects of peer pressure:

Those images are not 100% accurate since I took them around 11:50 PM last night instead of around 2-3 AM whenever the boards actually closed for "repair" lol.

It reached 11 pages in an hour!

I personally missed it, but when I found out about it I thought it was funny. but I've kinda noticed the majority (not all) of the people who thought it was annoying can be summed as "It was funny at first but by my 30th post it just got really old!". If it was really that annoying, you could have left the site for a day. Oh well, I expect something as good next year!

I thought it was funny. I think the people who said they didnt like it said that cause they were victems of it at least once and dont like when the jokes are on them.
