So like,

Without anyone rating any of my posts in like, a month, I've managed to drop from Standard to Warning.

Either way, I still say that the rating system doesn't work. I say it just lowers to quality of the site, and add to the usually unfun IndyDDR experince.

P.S. Maybe we should just reset the site's core value from Indiana DDR players to Indiana assholes.

The calculation method used to determine rank has changed, so this is a possibility. Standard to Warning is not a particularly large jump depending on where in Standard you were to begin with. A drop from Heavy down to Danger would be more of a cause for alarm.

However, things are still changing at the moment, so don't stress over it too much. I am planning to adjust the weighting of ratings to help even out the entire system. This could cause additional ranking shifts as I mentioned earlier. The goals are to try to reduce the instances of people using the ratings to attack each other and also to add more value to the Heavy rank so that it more accurately represents the site's most active and respected contributors as it was intended.

I considered resetting the entire system and zeroing everyone's point totals, but part of the reason for the recent changes is to give the rating system a more historical perspective--zeroing everything out would eliminate that history.

Just an update that I have now completed all of the planned adjustments to the ratings system. This has resulted in a change of rank for several users. These changes have been put in place to help better balance the system and to deal with some of the abuses and questionable uses we've noted since it was put in place.
