Upcoming Events at the Great X Scape in 08
everything is tentative of course so far we have 2 events that we plan on having in the arcade as of now:
Feb 2nd: DDR Supernova Tournament (basic double elim tournament and tentative freestyle) (Possibly SN2 if it is out by then)
March 1st: Pump it Up Tournament (if we still have NX1 it will be a tech doubles tournament, if we get an upgrade such as pro or NX2 it will be a standard double elim tournament)

Out of curiosity, how do you handle the fact that most people seem to prefer to play on the 1P side (right-handed)? That is, how do you handle it without everyone playing separately and taking a substantially longer time?Amp Divorax wrote:Can we get a IIDX Tournament plz?

I guess some people have to take one for the team and learn how to play 2P side. Start practicing!Ho wrote:Out of curiosity, how do you handle the fact that most people seem to prefer to play on the 1P side (right-handed)? Then since I can only play on the 2P side, I get to play with everyone all the time! Woohooo! Maximum Overdrive!Ho wrote:Freestylez?lgolem wrote:March 1st: Pump it Up Tournament

Yes there can be freestylez, but if you are the only one with one it would be like ok you won without dancing.Ho wrote:Freestylez?lgolem wrote:March 1st: Pump it Up Tournament

Since I live 4 minutes from the venue, I'll try to make sure he's not the only one interested in a freestyle event.lgolem wrote: Yes there can be freestylez, but if you are the only one with one it would be like ok you won without dancing.

Actually, IIDX Tournaments don't use tournament brackets and are actually handled in rounds. Depending on how many players there would be there would be a certain number of rounds. The best example is how the semifinals and finals were held for the Happy Sky Top Ranker Tournament which had 10 players:Ho wrote:Freestylez?lgolem wrote:March 1st: Pump it Up Tournament

Semifinal Round:
3 songs are selected by the officials.
Each of the 10 players would play those 3 scores.
The EX points of all 3 scores are added together.
The top 3 players of that round would move on, the rest are eliminated.
Final Round:
Each player picks a song of their choice.
The ex points of all 3 songs are added together.
The highest ex score wins.
Memorable 2016 quotes:

That system seems fine except that it still sounds as though there would be a lot of single players (rather than two on the machine simultaneously) that would take up additional time. Although I would imagine that a IIDX tournament (around here) would have somewhat smaller participation than a dance game tournament, so hopefully it wouldn't get too painfully long.
