MISSION POSSIBLE 83 wrote:USPF 2007 Venue Change (PLEASE READ THIS IN ITS ENTIRETY)

Hello All,

I have an urgent announcement to make to everyone traveling to USPF 2007.

Due to events beyond my control, we have had to switch the venue from Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg to the Dave&Buster's Show Room in Downtown Chicago.

I'm sure a number of you may be a bit angry at this point but allow me to give you a timeline explanation of WHY we have had to move.

July 6th: Venue selected and all details are sent to establish initial contact.

July 17th: Price is confirmed and submitted to AM for approval, AM is sketchy on budget.

July 24th: Mall confirms that they are willing and able to facilitate event

August 2nd: AM is still unwilling to give a budget number, but says they will consider the option.

August 12th: AM KOREA OKs largest USA budget

August 13th: Mall gives us layouts and assures us that everything is OK, go. AM USA agrees to pay insurance and machine rental. We are told to fill out a permit for an event that will take 2 weeks to process and cost only $75.

August 15th: Mall asks us for all information pertaining to USPF 2007, all info is given. AM Korea is given all information for the mall.

August 26th&27th: AM Korea notifies me that they have asked the mall for information for payment but they have gotten no reply. That monday (27th) the mall is given AM's contact info.

September 5th: We are told we need an additional electrical permit and inspection by a union electrician just to plug in the machines! The extra cost is estimated at $400-$1000 and the city of schaumburg asks for 40 days to process the permit!

I know this is long, but I feel you guys should understand I have done everything I can on my end and so has the supporter team. AM and the mall refused to communicate in a timely manner and this cost us the venue. I had D&B as a backup plan as soon as AM told me that they didnt get info. I assure all of you traveling that you will still have a great time.

NOTE: WE WILL BE GETTING 2 NEW FX MACHINES FOR BOTH DAYS OF THE TOURNEY

I think I may go as a spectator/photographer, if I can find someone to room with at the hotel. Is it $89 a night per room, or per person?

So, are nationals requiring 2 freestyles, or just the 1?

Last year, there was only time for each team to perform one routine. But to be safe, get two routines ready to go.

I'm worried about getting one routine together. Confirmation one way or the other would be good so I can know whether I should be just plain nervous or desperately stressed out.

I have some updates for everyone:

The Speed format is confirmed to be a tier format. There will be qualifiers to bring the numbers to an even 16. From there, everyone's score will be compared with all of the other players. The top half scores move on. This is how it is all the way to the finals.

Freestyle will be one round. Give us a hell of a show.

The venue has changed due to AM and the mall being retarded. The current location we are working on is Dave & Busters in downtown Chicago. Because this place is 18+, the tournaments will be run on the full song list.

And with that, combined with my lack of PTO to take the Friday off, I will not be going.
A normality test:
+++ATH
If you are no longer connected to the internet, you need to apply more wax to your modem: it'll make it go faster.
If you find this funny, you're a nerd.
If neither of the above apply, you are normal. Congratulations.

<-- breathes a qualified sigh of relief

I still feel unprepared...but not to the point of needing to change my pants.

I might be able to check this one out, seeing as how I'll be up there anyway. Competition? Maybe not. I'd have to pull together a Freestyle in two weeks. >_< Not sure if I can do that, especially for a group that's, like, 10x better than me.

But I could at least come and chill with you guys.
