Renaissance Extravaganza PIU:NX tournament

That’s right, kids – there will be another Pump tournament in Louisville, this time being held on New Xenesis. I am currently sorting through all of the details in terms of divisions/rules/songlists, but here is what is currently known:

When: March 18th, 2007. Noon-ish

Where: Renaissance Fun Park.
201 Park Place Drive
Louisville, Kentucky
(502) 253-9700

Tentative Division Lineup: Technical and Freestyle. If there is an outcry for it I have no problem setting up a Hard Mode division.

Prizes: TBA, but 100% cash brought in per division goes back to the winners since RFP is still that fucking awesome.

Entry Fee: $5 per division. Entries into multiple divisions are allowed. Anyone good enough for Tech may not enter Hard mode, but if anyone in Hard mode wants to try themselves in the Tech Division they are more than welcome to.

Condition of the machine: We’ll be using Flakk’s pads generously donated from his machine at home. Everything else will be the Park’s machine, but other than the pad everything is fine. The sound is good quality, the lights work for which bulbs aren’t burnt out…etc etc.

Freeplay(?): All day. Get your fill of NX.

More Info Per Division:

Tech/Crazy
- Double Elimination with Qualifiers.

Qualifier Method:
Each person will pick from Arcade Station ONLY, one song on any mode (single or doubles). They will play that song and their score at the end of the song is recorded. Higher seeds will obviously have the highest scores out of everyone participating.

- Best 2 out of 3 songs per match. Higher seed chooses song, Lower chooses pad side, and the order is switched for the next song. If a third song is reached, a random song from the songs currently available at that point in the tournament will be chosen to be played. Winner is determined by score, not PA. If the random song arrives at a tie/double FPC, one more song will be chosen only from a list of all songs one skull or higher.

- A song may only be picked once by the same person in the duration of the tournament.

- No mods other than speed mods are allowed.

- As the tournament progresses, the easier songs will be unavailable to be chosen both in the tournament as well as random tiebreakers.

Here is the breakdown of song difficulty elimination as it pertains to tournament round:

All songs
1st Round
2nd Round Winner
1st Round Losers
7's, 8's and 9’s are eliminated from play
3rd Round Winner
2nd Round Loser
10's and 11's are eliminated
3rd Round Loser
4th Round Winner
12's and 13's are eliminated

The rest of the tournament continues normally, with no further eliminations. The final couple rounds will be all level 14 and higher songs (songs with 1 or more skulls are understood to be over 14s), until the final 6 players left, and the finals, where Nightmares will be played.

When the tournament reached the final six players, all tiebreakers will become remix/another step/full songs randomly chosen from the list at the end of this post

- The use of Bar will be allowed for the entire tournament this time around, due to the WPF rule set which is supposedly being revised. I seriously doubt there will be a change to this even if the WPF rules are changed, though

- The Finals will be a best 3 out of 5 Nightmare round, with all songs randomly chosen from a select list. This song list will also be put up soon. EXPECT REMIXES/ANOTHERS/FULL SONGS. If a Remix or Full song is played, that song will account for 2 out of the 3 points needed for the round to the winner of the song.

Songlist below

Hard(?)
- Single Elimination. All songs are selectable at all stages of the tournament. The Finals will still be best 3 of 5 songs.

- Sandbagging. It's called at my discretion. If you do it then thank you for the $5 donation.

Freestyle
- Scoring to be determined, but expect the same format as last time. Three judges will grade the performance of all contestants based on several criteria. Depending on number of potential entrants, one or two songs may be available to be played. To be safe have two freestyles ready. Winners will be determined by adding up the scores from both performances. Highest point total wins.

NEW DIVISION: King of the Hill[/b]
- Anyone whom has paid for another division is automatically eligible to play, although they don’t have to. Everyone will get a random seed, and the lowest two numbers will play each other on a randomly chosen Arcade Station song on Crazy. Winner will be determined by score; as soon as the song is over, the loser is eliminated, and person seeded one higher than the previous two players will get on the pad immediately afterwards. Another song is chosen at random. The winner is the last man/woman left on the machine at the end of the event.

- Prizes? Not sure yet, but probably so. Depends on sponsorship (although I’m pretty sure we’ll be getting some AM garb), but if not then this will be a just for fun event.

Questions/comments appreciated.

Please don't bring the furry, it'll be better for everyone in the long run. I might actually be going to this.

If you do bring him though, please tie him to a tree or fire hydrant. However if you must bring him inside, for God's sake bring a plastic baggy and a scooper.

So, what you're saying is that you have a breadstick for him?
A normality test:
+++ATH
If you are no longer connected to the internet, you need to apply more wax to your modem: it'll make it go faster.
If you find this funny, you're a nerd.
If neither of the above apply, you are normal. Congratulations.

There's a good chance I'll be able to go to this, since it happens to coincide with the end of Spring Break.
