Can I name my qualifier after seeing the first few steps of the song?
Hmm you're pondering doing something on Random aren't you
No, the way it would work is that once you decide you want to do your qualifier, you'd let me know before the song had begun. But yes, mods would be allowed I think...

I know exactly what you are pondering MonMotha but I won't say anything.

Those are understandable rules. It would be kinda silly to let me do what I'm considering doing if you also were to let me decide to bail on the attempt. I'd only need to see the first step though :)

Will stage break be on or off for the qualifier?

Well, I assume since the machine will be on Free Play on Friday and Saturday pending your entry fee, I'd be apt to believe that it will be off. If it's on, do whatever song you'd like as your first song and stage break will be forced off.

Update for those following the tourney from afar:

The tourney has been "officially" announced at X-Scape - there's a flyer on the machine, registration forms are available at the counter, rules are being given out, etc. This happened yesterday at around 6:00 (IIRC).

The rules which are available are essentially the same as the ones posted here (with their later revisions), though there's something confusing about the prizes (they suggest a random drawing - huh?) and the proviso that they might change the rules if Zero is "substantially different" from Exceed.

BTW, for those interested, the tournament is advertised as being on Zero.

Has a time for the tournies been set yet?

IIRC, 5-9 p.m. each of Friday and Saturday. Of course, those are the time slots for the official events - qualifiers (on Friday) and freestyle/technical tournaments (on Saturday). The impression I have is that the machine will be available all day Saturday.

Someone (probably Malictus) slap me if I'm wrong, please.

Yep, I submitted some rules to the arcade folks on Friday, although it sounds like they have added some additional info (about the times, which I wasn't aware of yet).

I was waiting to post here until I got final approval, so I'll post the official rules here probably tomorrow.

Oh, and the random prizes are NOT for the iPod, which will go to the winner of the tech tournament. But there will be a number of other prizes (T-shirts, free tokens, etc.), and some of those will be given out by random drawing to anyone who enters.

More to come...

Ah, OK, thanks. Sorry to steal your thunder - I'll look forward to the official posting. :)

The info about the times wasn't actually on the sheet - it was on the big sign they have out in front of the arcade. (No, really! Check it out.)

Just to clarify, you can still qualify on Saturday, right? Or does that now have to be done on Friday?

I guess this means those of us who qualify on Friday will not have to do so in front of MonMotha?

SWEET! I'm in! 8)

I need to get practicing lest I get owned by non-Bloomington folk.

Don't worry. Jason Dread's showing up. You and me both will be solidly owned by the Louisville folk :)
