Re: Baron of the Bemani Bordello: July 16th is a nonononono
It's pretty early yet. I think (hope) we'll have more than just the people that have responded in the first 14 hours.
Thanks for the benefit of the doubt. I have reasonable confidence on DMX and KBM. GF I'd think someone would do better than me. But without Brandon, I'd be guessing that would be a competition to see who was the least bad rather than the most good.

Also, does anyone care to add Flash Beats to the mix? ![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

I object, for serious. How does that game even keep score in singleplayer?

It plays sort of like Breakout. Each tube has a wall that must be chipped away in order to score. Scoring occurs from both the chipping of the walls as well as the eventual goal. There is a point total like a money score and a goal total like a normal game. So we could compete on either money score or goal total (like PA).

Whichever is easier to read is fine with me. Money score would probably be best.

You bitch about Pump tournaments using money score and then you want to use it for Flash Beats? Oh Merk...
Both scores are displayed in every game, so either is easy to read. I'll try to play a few games to see how the money score is calculated to get an idea if/how it is affected by smashes or whatnot so that I can relay such information and put everyone on equal (knowledge) footing.

Nice troll. I'm assuming Flash Beats uses a linear scoring algorithm which makes money score a viable option. If Pump or Extreme did the same then money score would work for those games too but they don't, hence why PA is better and oh my God we are not having this discussion again.

Re: Baron of the Bemani Bordello: July 16th is a nonononono
I wouldn't make any particular assumption about Flash Beats scoring. I haven't really played that many games in single player mode (afterall, it's a much better game with two players) and paid a whole lot of attention to the score. Much like DDR, I was more focused on being able to pass than what the score was. As it stands, I've only been able to complete one game by myself. (It took three of us to complete a single player game the first time I ever saw the ending.)
My biggest curiosity here is whether a smash increases the score vs. a normal hit. But at any rate, I don't think there is any sort of a combo element like Pump or a point cap like DDR. I will research and report to the best of my ability.

I can be there on the new date. I do have plans on the 16th, though, so I won't be attending the poker game.
A normality test:

If you are no longer connected to the internet, you need to apply more wax to your modem: it'll make it go faster.
If you find this funny, you're a nerd.
If neither of the above apply, you are normal. Congratulations.

How do people feel about streaming our event and raising some funds for the International Video Game Hall of Fame?

Only if Walter Day shows up.
How the heck would we stream 8 games?

You spend more time watching video game streams than anyone else I know.Riot wrote:Better question: who would watch?
