I think you giant gaijin types prefer it because it puts the target line up closer to your eye level if you're taller than the average Japanese player.

The guy gets pissed off and jumps out of a window at the end because he fails his song.

Not sure how you could have missed that.

I'm not sure he would've failed if he played it out though. His bar wasn't that low.

I don't know! Maybe he was going for score and saw that he wasn't going to reach his goal! Regardless I can relate to his frustration and his method of coping with failure amuses me.

I've been employing a little bit of a different technique lately with some mild success and I figured I'd share it with all 0 of you who care! This is applicable to the 1P side.

Once you start hitting 11s and shit you'll realize that you're going to have to start incorporating your thumbs, especially your right thumb, in order to hit chord streams efficiently and accurately. This is simple enough but if you're like me you tend to not use your thumbs on streamy shit since rolls on 5+7 and 4+5 are easier with your index and ring finger or easier by bringing in your left hand. There's nothing inherently wrong with not using your thumb for those types of rolls however it does put your right hand out of position to hit other keys like 4 and 6 if your left hand is occupied by scratching or is doing some pattern on the 1, 2, or 3 keys.

The solution for this is to pretty much always keep your thumb anchored on 5 and train your hand to be able to do a roll on 4+5 with your index and thumb and the 5+7 roll with your thumb and ring finger. Doing this will allow you have an available finger with you can use to hit the other keys on the right side with relative ease. Now, the 4+5 roll with the index and thumb is admittedly pretty rough (try it out for yourself on your desk!) but with practice you'll get faster and it will feel less awkward. Keeping your right thumb anchored will make shit like scales a little bit easier to do too.

Now, left hand technique is a completely different beast I haven't figured out yet. Top tier players appear to do thumb on 1, middle on 2, and index on 3 and either wrist scratch or bring their right thumb over to cover the 3 key and pinky scratch (which leaves the 4 key uncovered). If you thought rolls on 4+5 were awkward on your right index and thumb, try angling your left arm 90 degrees and doing a roll on 1+3 with your thumb and index - yeesh.

Gonna mix it up a bit a try using my right pinky on 7. People are pretty boners for that playstyle and I use my right pinky almost never - presumably it should give me more flexibility and accuracy on my right hand but we'll see how it goes.

Bleh, I need to get some sort of consistent technique down for my left hand. I have been using my left middle on 2 and then used my thumb to alternate between 3 and 1 while my left index finger would occasionally cover 4 (and 2 during scratches) and my ring/pinky handles scratching. I think I need to anchor my thumb on 1, middle on 2, and index on 3 while I do wrist scratching or some bocrap like that.

Beat is overrated. The keys should be circles instead of rectangles. :P

What songs did you play? Did you get a sense of frustration and self-loathing while playing it at all?
