You kind of have to rush a little bit in Beatmania, hit the notes a little before you think you have to. And just play a lot, that's the best way.

Oh, don't devote one hand to hitting keys and one hand to scratching. Get used to just barely scratching with your pinky and concentrating most on hitting the notes. Try to keep your right hand on the right half of the keys and your left on the left.

Very good piece of advice, I'll agree with it as a fellow noob (I'm still a noob, right?).

Odds are, now that it's $30 at Best Buy and Target, I'll get it when I can find about $20 more.

If you had to rate the game out of ten, what would you give it?

(I'll get it anyways, I just like to know.)

For a beginning bm player, I would give it an 8.5/10. It has a good selection of songs so that starting out and then progressing isn't too difficult, and it has enough difficult songs to keep you happy for quite a bit until you inevitably start desiring jp mixes.

Compared to other games or compared to other Bemani games?

Compared to other PS2 games generally, I'd give it an 8/10, but my standards are higher than most (Katamari Damacy is 7/10, We <3 Katamari is 8/10).

Compared to the other Bemani games... probably a 4/10. It's above Playstation versions of PNM and Beatmania, but it's below KeyboardMania and any PNM after 8 (not to mention any IIDX after 6 or 7).

Compared to not getting it? INFINITY/0. Thank you. ;)
