10th Style CS

Post by Amp Divorax » Wed Nov 09, 2005 8:19 am

It's happening in 8 days and this thread was inevitable.

Positives: DoLL, R2, 1st Samurai! The return of the sweet high res progressive scan friendly graphics! (3rd - 8th styles look terrible when I try to use Component video on my HDTV and I have to use S-Video for them cause the progressive scan makes them look choppy.)
Negatives: V appears for the 6th time! (It's also set to make it's 7th appearence on Beatmania US!)

The problem isn't passing the song, it's the fact that they could be putting in a 3rd style song that is offsync instead of that song over and over again!

So this game FINALLY supports progressive scan? I would be very happy for that, because then I can play it on my monitor without lots of hackery...

The song list has been announced and is up on bemanistyle.

A few of the revivals are pretty worthless such as One or Eight, quasar, V, and Love <3 Shine. However there are some that are good like Take It Easy, rottel-da-sun, and sometime.

REINCARNATION is also in there as a revival song, which pretty much makes the 4th style in Ft. Wayne obsolete for me unless I wanted to play something like S.O.S.

I don't think it's the fact that it supports progressive scan. I think it's the fact that the game is probably running at a full 60 fps just like DDR as if I am not mistaken IIDX pre 9th style ran 30 fps.

The full songlist:

AC songs:

CS Exclusive Songs:

Strong Woman feat.DABO (Asami)
泰東ノ翠霞 (bermei.inazawa/feat. 霜月はるか)
HYPE THE CORE (DJ CHUCKY)
satellite020712 from "CODED ARMS" (Nekomata Master)
IXION (L.E.D.)
ACID VISION (L.E.D.)

Preview Songs:
HAPPY EXTREME / LESSON 5 / Risk Junk feat.Erika Mochizuki (HAPPY SKY)
J-EUROTRANCE / Under the Sky / Sayaka Minami(BeForU) with platoniX (HAPPY SKY)

Other Info: The game will be using the Happy Sky hi-speed settings so songs can be adjusted by incriments of 0.5x up to 4.0x.

Personally speaking, I think they could have done without so many returns from 9th style. Aside from that it looks to be a very good songlist. The next 6 days are gonna feel like an eternity before that comes in.

Triple Post in the same thread! w00t!

The game is now officially out and I'm almost done downloading a copy since the midwest is loathed by all mail services! I'll give a review of it tomorrow most likely.

Initial Review:

I finished downloading 10th style and played some songs to get an initial impression. I'll try to do a more detailed review after I'm done resting.

The same high res system as before, overall though it looks a little more fluid than 9th style. I currently use a HDTV with Component video to play on. The audio synced up very well on my setup, a quick and easy transition from 9th and not too hard to read. The 0.5 speed adjustments are nicely done. One major note though is 3.5x and 4.0x are actually only go up by 0.25 speed. (This was done in 12th Happy Sky.) Under The Sky is unlocked by playing Arcade/Expert/Class mode 3 times and Lesson 5 is unlocked by playing 6 times.

The only negative, one of the revival songs was totally wasted on bringing V back. That's about all I can think of.

Oh, the new 5.1.1 7K steps really earn that 6 difficulty as it's an easier version of the another mode. However it also has a somewhat cheap ending.

IIDX RED did not use the new speed mod system. It still had traditional HS1-3.

Whoops, that was a typo on my end. Sorry about that, I was a little too tired for my own good. Thanks for pointing that out.

Alright, overall when it comes to a final review I think that my initial impressions are pretty dead on. Oh, for those who want to check it out, Judge Mode is on here which shows the number of flashing greats, greats, goods, bads, and poors that the player has gotten on a song. I am really impressed with this style overall.

Oh, something I forgot to mention that I found. If start button on the title screen isn't pressed and it goes into demo mode, after it shows the inital demo it will play through all the new songs jukebox style.

Oh, the Japanese version of Secret Rendevous is on here! I have only one thing to say
