Well, I've just started playing it...the music sounds like the voice and effects timing doesn't quiiiiiite line up. It's as if the hiccups from HD Loader slow some parts, but not others. I'm still pulling decent scores (on a PS2 controller, man I need an ASC equivalent)...and I just played Tank! from Cowboy Bebop. Ohhhhhh this game is good.

EDIT: And the ORIGINAL Rhythm and Police is on here! I like that version better than the classic KOG G3 mix we're all so used to from DDR. Have had it on my music list for years now, and was always hoping it would make it into a Bemani game. Rock!

What seems to happen is that the notecharts skip (like Pop'n 9, but more often and more badly), and along with it, so do any keysounded parts that you're not playing (the parts from the other difficulties), but the vocals or anything that isn't keysounded on any difficulty stays lined up with things as if it didn't skip. Basically, if you pay attention to the parts that would be keysounded (basically anything but vocals) on Ex, you can keep in sync, but it does get somewhat visually out of sync.

EDIT: The way they say "eleven" is so CUTE! :)

For Gambler Z, you should try an FAQ. I couldn't figure out how it worked until I read someone FAQ on GameFAQs. That should tell you exactly how to get what you're looking for. Also, if you didn't know already, all the dice have a consistant timing to them. If you know the timing to hit for each dice, getting a straight 6+6+6+6x is really easy =P

Don't forget Sailormoon is also back with a new I think Hyper or EX =P

The issue is that I don't know what I'm missing on Gambler Z, so the only way for me to do it systematically at this point is to make my way through the entire map until I find what I'm missing. I may actually have all the songs (it's at like 94% or something), and I don't really like Pop'n 9 all that much anyway, so I'll probably not bother.

I can usually roll pretty well, so I could make my way through the maps pretty quickly, but it's just not worth my time since I don't normally play 9 anyway.

I got 11CS the other day. Loving it so far... I'll probably love it more once I get more of the Ura songs unlocked (only have Twee Pop so far... rats) and Gradius. Oh, and Scotland and Neo Folk Rock 2 are pretty damn awesome too.

And maybe I'm alone on this one... but I don't find Tank to be incredibly fun. I mean, I love the song, but I just don't feel it.

OMG...Jizzon lives! ;)

I finally loaded this up this morning after playing some silly games of making Handiness read the ISO from my laptop connected via crossover cable because the DVD in that machine is too old and couldn't read the burn (even though it read a different burn only moments before). Well, whatever.

Anyway, I just wanted to see the game and wasn't really wanting to get into it yet in light of the aforementioned sync issues. So I just loaded it up on the DLP and played a few songs in 5-line on a Dual Shock. Of course the DLP introduces its own sync issues, but I can definitely tell that the game is a bit off when using HD Loader.

It seems a bit inconsistent though, and in that way it was much like playing IIDX 9th Style on HD Loader. Sometimes it seems just fine (I even 95k'ed a song). Other times (and seemingly more often), the notes seem to fall behind the music bed (leading me to a nice string of 75k's...although I'm not too practiced on a Dual Shock either).

At any rate, cute as always and I'm looking forward to playing the new songs. I LOVE POP'N MUSIC! (and scones)

There's I think 4 or 5 "boss" battle songs, and then there's a final boss as well, those are what you should be looking for =P

(i.e. Tran for Absolute (Rock version), Uowo for Oi Punk 0, Jaguar-B for uh...whatever song he is, and I think there's like 1 or 2 more. The final level song is Blues for Anime Hero EX)

I want to get into this game like A LOT....but can't due to insufficient earth moneys. -__- If I could find torrents for the DC versions I would burn them and just make a pop N controller by ordering the buttons off the internet....but can't find any.

In all honesty, the buttons are the most expensive part of the controller, especially if you want to get everything in the correct color (since most places have minimums or charge outlandish amounts for a single red button).

You'll probably end up spending about as much as buying a Desktop Arcade or Ransai (assuming he's still making them).

The games themselves are the cheap part of playing. If you have a modded or Japanese PS2, 8-10 can be had for about $40-50 as "Konami the Best" editions.

way ahead of you...no minimum limit....$8.60 a pop...so $77 to order all the buttons...I would be able to make it with scrap material around here, no problem...just trying to be as cheap as possible....so if I can find torrents for dreamcast...then 77$ is all I really need to spend...but if not...more for the games.

IIRC, the Happ buttons aren't quite the right size (too small). They're close, but it will not be arcade accurate. I'd have to measure my controller (which I don't have handy) to check since I don't have the actual arcade dimensions handy right now (though I'm guessing google does). Happ is also well known to rape people on shipping, so be ready for that. That's also much lower than I remember them being. When I looked into building one, the buttons alone were going to set me back about $150 or so even for the Happ ones. They were nearly $15 a piece.

I don't remember what DA charges for their controllers, but I know the Ransai was a darn good deal once you considered the sheer price of the materials when I bought it. It's possible that Happ has started carrying stuff they didn't used to. They change suppliers frequently.

Check what microswitch it comes with. The correct actuaton force is 100gf (same as IIDX). The 80gf Cherries are popular amongst ASC makers as well (and Happ sells these). Most pushbuttons come with much stiffer switches, though, and it really makes a huge difference for pop'n play.

You'll also want to grab a couple buttons for use as start/select. The rectangular or square arcade style pushbuttons work well for this and look at home with the giant buttons, or you can use something cheaper if you prefer.

Still, you're talking about spending $100+ on a controller for materials. I say again, the games themselves are the cheap part. The old versions really do suck, by the way. 7 was about the minimum for being decent with 8 really starting to shine.
