Ok, this has to be the ultimate WTF release by Konami, a USB Mouse based on the Pop'N design has been announced.

A picture and more info is available at http://www.konami.jp/bemani/popn/goods/be-mouse/

Fun fact: only 3 posts at IndyDDR.com contain the word "boop."

The price is mentioned at 4980 yen so expect to drop about $60-$70 through Play-Asia to get it. The current date listed is March 2008.

I'm intrigued...but what does it actually do?

I can see that little doors open up to reveal pop'n buttons, but do they have any functionality? Should we expect a PC release of pop'n? Of course at that scale pop'n seems kinda pointless.

It is SMALLER than a finger tapper, and those are pointless....

Well, the graphic shows Pop'N being played on a computer and it indicates that a CD-ROM is coming with it. However I don't consider it being all that practical.
