Quick little response here.

Pop'n Music 16. I'd want to get excited over new songs and stuff, but this stinkin' game has something like 783.5832 songs, so everything gets lost in everything else. Having lots of songs is good, but there were still so many songs on 15 that I'm still yet to touch, and it's really hard for me to care about the new ones.

Short admission: the single song that got me excited when I came across it in the new version songlisting was Sobakasu.

Beyond that, it's pretty much a new skin with new cardboard cutouts, and, get this...

A brand new machine (the blue one on the left)!

I walked in the other day to find that the arcade had purchased a second Pop'n Music machine. Considering that it's not uncommon to only get in one game every 40 minutes or so during peak periods, this was a happy revelation.

I love the little gift boxes around the marquee area. Konami has always been good about adding little touches and trinkets to make an upgraded machine easily identifiable as having a new version, but I think pop'n has had the most fun and creative "customizing" pieces of any of the Bemani games lately.

Oh I agree. In the US very, very few of the machines are actually dressed up properly, so it's nice to see the effort that goes into it. It's more than just the marquee... each new mix/style gives a new look to the machine.

And yes, I think they did a much better job with 16 than the prior versions I've seen.

Corrected your post for you.

Although I didn't actually specify it, at the time of writing I was actually thinking of all Bemani machines in general.

I stand by my (your "corrected"?) statement, with the exception of DDR.

Ok, in a WTF move the BM/IIDX/III song North has crossed over to this release! The Hyper notechart is the same as the hyper on IIDX, but the another has Pop'N written all over it.
