Pump Tatsujin Videos

Here's a sample of something MonMotha and I cooked up recently. In the style of the IIDX tatsujin video, this is a Pump It Up tatsujin video.

Watch video

This is just a quick 'proof-of-concept.' The actual performance isn't particularly special. This was more about just getting some footage so I could get it synched up and laid out on screen. In the future, I'd love to capture some truly amazing performances *glances over at Jason Dread* and maybe add some more visual appeal to the layout.

BakaOrochi, what would be the Korean equivalent to 'tatsujin?'

OOOh me likes.

Korean "ironman" is "Chul In."

Spelled "철인"

I think you might've mixed up tetsujin and tatsujin

(tetsujin's root is tetsu which is iron while tatsujin means master for reasons unknown to me :D all I know is tatsu can mean sever, dragon, or to rise up.)

My understanding of 'tatsujin' in this context is that it meant 'master.' Tatsujin videos were demonstrating the skills of people who had mastered the game and could do things that the rest of us rabble drool over.

Also, the American release of Taiko no Tatsujin is entitled Taiko Drum Master. That further led me to believe in this translation.

I can see how 'ironman' could be an idiomatic but not literal translation of the idea of tatsujin in this context.

Yes, 達人 (tatsujin) means "master" or "expert".

The kanji used for "tatsu" in this context means "accomplished, reach, arrive, or attain".

Alright, I finally got to watch the video...I'm sold.

I'm definately heading out sometime (interested Flakk?) and getting some of what you'd be looking to grab for Tatsujins. Anything off the top of your head?

You have no idea how long I've wanted to play Love Is a Danger Zone NM on spectacular pads...

Wait. You mean you hadn't watched it until now? You just took me at my word that it would be good? Thanks, Jason, you've made me feel good today. ;)

Anyway, I've been working on some new techniques to improve the look of this project. Hit me up on AIM or in a PM so we can work out a time to do this.

The tatsujins that came out of that session so long ago are here. They were recorded in late 2005 (shortly after this thread died), but I didn't actually produce the videos until early last summer--about a year and a half later.
