Pump It Up : Zero announced

Post by BakaOrochi » Mon Nov 14, 2005 3:32 pm

Taken from Pump Haven:

http://www.bemanistyle.com/baka/piu0-trailer.rar

New features to be noted:

-New step charts.
-New added step charts.
-New hidden step charts and songs.
-Both players can (FINALLY) choose different difficulties.
-You can now preview the background movies of each song.
-Mission mode!
-And apparently a whooooole lot more.

I dunno about y'all, but I'm hyped.

^_^ I don't have to play alone anymore! Huzzah!!!

But of course this means Ho's gonna have an old machine. Ya think they have upgrade packs for this one? (Relax, I'm kidding.)

I took the liberty of re-encoding the video as a WMV and reduced size and quality to make it a faster download. This should also help out the people who don't want to deal with a RAR.

Pump It Up Zero announcement video [link removed--see message later in thread]

I'm definitely excited now that I've seen it. It looks like they've finally fixed the interface issues that have always been my only real complaint about Pump in general. I know being able to see and select the difficulties for each song more easily is on most Pump players' wish lists--including mine. And splitting difficulties between the two players is most certainly a long time coming. That seems so obvious that I can't believe it's taken them this long to include it.

But otherwise, it looks like more of what I love about Pump and I can't wait to play! It certainly seems like Freevolt Team is staying true to form in delivering incredible eye candy...and even more incredible engrish! ;)

I'm not sure what the new game has to do with you playing alone. I'm still more than happy to play Exceed 2.

According to recent communication I had with Andamiro, the system I have is the newer MK-6 (Exceed/Exceed2 debuted on MK-5). I was told that future upgrades would be released for MK-6 hardware, so I should be able to get onboard if I'm willing to pay the price.

I have not confirmed upgrade availability since this announcement, and I doubt they've released upgrade details just yet anyway. But I don't see anything in Zero that the MK-6 hardware shouldn't be able to do, so a software-only upgrade seems entirely reasonable.

She meant that she can play with someone else on the machine and choose a different difficulty.

Andamiro generally offers cheaper upgrades for later hardware models. MK-VI hardware would probably be a few hundred cheaper to upgrade than a MK-V...at least it's not MK-III.

I really want to see how they're going to put out Mission Mode.

Exactly! So I don't have to "Go" Crazy with any of you yet...

Thanks for the clarification...from both of you. Makes good sense. I think this feature alone will do wonders for helping Pump to gain in popularity by making it more accessible to players of all skill levels.

Without knowing anything other than what was in the clip, it seems more like something I'd expect to see on a console version than an arcade version. However, I think it would be fun to have some different types of challenges at the arcade. I'm looking forward to seeing what they've cooked up.

imagine this unlockable: Final Audition, the full 8 minutes of hardcore stepping. it'd most likely be unlocked after the 4th song.

Andamiro released the preview video on their website. It's much higher quality than the ones that have been circulating previously...although the file size is pretty beefy at ~36 MB.

Pump It Up: Zero promotional video

I'm taking down the mirror I had posted earlier in this thread.

36 MB is not that big...well, if you're on 56k, it is. but it's worth it to see the video.
