I'll do my best. In the meantime you can check out some of the tutorials that come with the program. There's also pretty good stuff on YouTube that I wish was around when I was first starting out. Check out the stuff in the "Cool Stuff" folder as well and with a little reverse engineering you can learn some pretty neat techniques.

Learn a Major scale like E Major (the only sharps are F, G, C, and D) and always use the piano roll to write notes. That advice alone will prevent a song from sounding like dissonant ass.
