Post by chocobojoe » Sun Jul 27, 2008 6:36 pm

Hey all, I need to make rent money soon and I was wondering if anybody would be interested in any of these items:

Guitar Hero 1 (PS2)
Guitar Hero 2 (PS2)
Guitar Hero 3 (PS3)
Guitar Hero PS2 controller (the one that came with part 1)
Guitar Hero wireless PS3 controller (came with part 3)

Is it possible to mod a GH controller into a GF controller? I know you can change the button configuration in GF, but Guitar Hero controllers have the nasty "feature" of the left analog stick always being set to "left" making selecting a song with any sort of accuracy in GF a huge headache.

I'm sure I could just cut the wire maybe, any ideas?

I'll take the controller off your hands Joe if I can do this : D

Ah yeah, that was an ooooold thread.

It got really god damned derailed though, everybody starts talking about GF vs. GH and no one really answered the "can you turn a GH controller into a GF controller and turn off the left analog stick?" question. So, as it stands, does anyone know if you can cut the left analog stick wire? And if so, which one should I slice?

I'd hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Guitar Hero guitars are pretty poor when it comes to timing (cough, garbage control boards, cough) and are not really recommended for Guitar Freaks. You may find a Guitar Freaks KOC out in the wild, but the only thing that can be found in stock is the $300 KASC.

There's no wire to cut. The MCU on the board just basically constantly tells the PS2 that the control is jammed in that direction (IIRC, it's left DPAD, not analog stick).
A normality test:

If you are no longer connected to the internet, you need to apply more wax to your modem: it'll make it go faster.
If you find this funny, you're a nerd.
If neither of the above apply, you are normal. Congratulations.
