Well, the closest you can go for some fighting game action if you can't get to Evo is Arcade Legacy in Cincinnati is streaming Evo & hosting fighting game tournaments. Sounds like fun, but haven't committed to going to it yet.

Local parties seem to work well for Evo. I'm really looking forward to this weekend. Official hashtag is #fightinggamesareboring
