Quake 4 Issues

So I tried to install Quake 4 last night and on the fourth CD, it gave me an error saying it couldn't read some file on the disc. I tried to retry, still got the error. I tried it on a different computer, still recieved the same error.

Has anyone here had that problem or know how to fix it? I'll probably just try exchanging it for a different copy tomorrow.

I had that problem when I was installing. I just wiped my hard drive of anything related to the install, and redid it.

Also, make sure ALL your drivers are up to date when you try to play it, otherwise it won't load. My Nvidia driver was out of date by about a month and Q4 would get to load screen and quit.

try making a iso of the disc and mounting it in daemon tools for the install

on another note, why do they still do cd releases...4 cds? come on do dvds already

Happened to me too and apparently there's no real simple solution, I just returned the game. Moral of the story: Quake 4 and its developer both suck balls.

I exchanged it for a new copy. This copy installed without any problems. It is now time for me to FINALLY play this game after hearing all the hype since Quake 3.

I go to play the game and I get another error. It's a stupid game. I hate it. I'm just going to return the damn thing.

It's actually a really fun game. Make sure ALL of your drivers are up to date.

I updated all the drivers and changed my RAM from dual channel to single channel. Apparently, Quake 4 is a VERY picky game. Doesn't matter anymore because the game works. :D
