PSP/MAME advice

Post by danc1005 » Thu May 25, 2006 7:20 pm

Hey guys, with all my going to Romania this summer (plus I'm taking a trip to Chicago this weekend), I was seriously considering buying a 1GB Memory Stick for my PSP. Currently I only have a 256 and the 32 that came with it. I'm one of the few PSPers that's still at version 1.5, holding it down with my homebrew (N64 EMULATOR WHUT WHUT). So I was thinking of getting a MAME emulator. But, are there any arcade games worth getting a MAME emulator for? List some of your favorite arcade games/ones that would be worth getting the extra space for.

-Dan

EDIT: Oooh, I just found beatmania ROMs for MAME. Wonder how the controls will be? Now I want to get MAME...which beatmania should I get? Choices:

beatmania (ver JA-B) 1.16 MB popular

beatmania 2nd MIX (ver JA-A) 417.13 KB

beatmania 2nd MIX (ver JA-B) 1.40 MB

beatmania 4th MIX (ver JA-A) 1.28 MB

beatmania 5th MIX (ver JA-A) 1.56 MB

beatmania 6th MIX (ver JA-A) 1.81 MB

beatmania complete MIX (ver JA-B) 1.48 MB

beatmania complete MIX 2 (ver JA-A) 1.74 MB

beatmania CORE REMIX (ver JA-A) 1.51 MB

beatmania f. Dreams Come True (ver JA-A)

Uh those are just the ROMs, you need the CHD's to run them. Those are a few hundred megs. Each.

I've had my 1.5 PSP up until now, but I think I'm about to go play Monster Hunter on it, and I think it makes me upgrade to 2.6. Oh well. Now I play my ROMs on my laptop anyways.

Umm, this is sort of the same topic. Would it be worth it to get a Commodore 64 emu for my PSP. Are there any good games? If so, what, and describe them.

Commodore 64? Pfft! The Atari ST could kick its ass any day! Better game selection, better support and better design to boot!

Okay, for those of you who know ANYTHING about PSPs,

That's Sony's official web browser.
On MY 1.5 PSP.
I can run games that require 2.5 as well :).

Dammit, maybe no one else remembers the good old days when Atari users and Commies - er, Commodore users - would bicker about the relative merits of their favorite platforms, but I do... <*sniffle*>

Seriously, though, pretty spiffy.

And say, that thing looks a lot like my old Atari Lynx...

Yeah, but I bet it is the first time you saw it on a 1.5 PSP running the official Sony Web Browser, considering that the web browser was only added in firmware 2.0.
