FreQuency?

I was browsing the website for Harmonix (makers of Guitar Hero and Karaoke Revolution), and I noticed they have one more game series whose elements are called FreQuency and Amplitude.

Unfortunately, their website has absolutely no information about what these games are. I get the vague impression that they involve music, somehow, and I would extrapolate that they're like Beatmania IIDX except that there appears to be no specialized controller.

So at the risk of sounding like a complete newbie: are these music games, and if so, what kind?

Edit: almost forgot the most important question - are they any good?

Yes, very fun games, and in my opinion Amplitude is better. It seemed to fine-tune Frequency's problems. It's played with the controller (3buttons) and you have, I think, 5 tracks that you have to complete periodically.

It's really fun, me and Mexy played it when we got bored of Didder back in the day.

Amplitude's layout is better, but Frequency's songs are tons better. Good games.

Actually, its almost exactly like guitar heroes... but you play more parts than the guitar.

Because Harmonix made Guitar Hero and Frequency. Except Guitar Hero came out like 5 years after. So Guitar Hero is like Frequency. Except a lot worse.

Frequency rocks.

I was a total fanatic for both games, and played each one to completion (which, near the end, became much more difficult than GH's difficulty in my opinion!).

I love rhythm games in general, and this company is the only one outside of Konami to get the home version done, and done -right-.

Big bump here...

http://www.symbionproject.com/

If you click the circle where the '1' button would be on a number pad, you can download, fo' free, some of the tracks from the games.

Chris Child has a bunch of his MP3s for download. I remembered thinking Shades of Blue was awesome.

Kickstarting another Amplitude. I'd fund this if I had a PS3/4.

This is ChocoboJoe's chance to get a song in a real ass video game!

ITG3 doesn't count since that shit got litigated like a mofo before it saw the light of day.
