the game room at the last ACen had this (Para Para Paradise). Oh WOW. Before I saw anyone playing this, I thought "hmm, this could be fun." Then I saw a guy play this. Yea, I just turned around and placed my token to mark my turn for the Dance Maniacs, or whatever the one with the four sensors (two on top and two on bottom) is.
Yea, I'm like Mother Teresa, except I pwn.

(further derailing this topic)

PPP is definitely not manly--at least not in an American sense. Para para as a dance form is supposedly unisex and I've seen clips of Japanese television with both males and females performing para para routines. So there's likely a clutural difference there. However, para para and PPP in particular definitely both seem skewed toward girls.

DanceManiaX (DMX)! Yes, I am quite fond of this game. I find it very freestyle-friendly, which makes me quite happy.

DanceManiaX is a very fun game indeed. The local arcade where I was in Cali this summer had a 2nd mix machine.

I can now pass the hardest song on the game (9 stars) on double mode

It's also not that hard. I was passing the hardest Wild songs on double after 3 tries (IMHO, it's Mad Blast or Nonstop Special 2).

I'd argue that, like PPP, the fun and allure of DMX isn't necessarily in its challenge.

It isn't, but PPP is more focused on the Para Para aspect, whereas DMX...I don't know. But at least with PPP, the focus wasn't necessarily on challenge so much as it is the dance style.

I mean come on, a lot of the Expert songs look like you're swatting flies with a seizure.

I played it down at Westside, and I really enjoyed it. Because of what Ho said. I think it'd be fun to play it more and get to know the routines. n_n Then it's a little less pointless flailing and a little more of a "you-have-to-be-female-or-very-VERY-secure-with-your-masculenity" thing. XD

An actual signature will come soon, I suppose.

well I played percussion masters on wednesday, it was pretty fun. Although I didn't read the instructions and just went right into it. I ended up playing something easy, then something that was on like hard. I was hurt :( I couldn't get the whole green ring thing down.

Green = side of the drum. Like, the outer edge or whatnot.

I played the first time on "Hard" and got past everything with good scores. I didn't try Expert, but I did do the hardest songs on Hard. Pretty easy game, but decently fun. Yeah, reminded me a lot of Taiko.

Anybody have the songs from this game floating about there somewhere?

The thing's been out there for almost a year now, and I've yet to see any media.

We lost our only PM in the area back in May (Paramounts Kings Island) and I was wondering if you can capture the music directly from the machine.

I really want 'Body Talk' and 'Rhythm Invaders', but I'm not able to find them.
B-o-o to the y-a....

I'm so white and old.

expert = 500 times harder than hard mode

i can pass them all, but full comboing is insanely hard.
