Damn, haven't been here since October.

I'm going to try to go there tomorrow after class, since my afternoon one was cancelled. Hopefully they still have the machines...

It would be really funny if they still had the SN2 just sitting there broken.

So IPS wants to put a school in the mall on the 4th floor: http://fox59.com/2015/04/28/high-school ... ntre-mall/

I wonder what this means for Tilt. Hopefully if they use that space for this and Tilt doesn't reopen anywhere else, then they sell off some of the machines... mainly the DDR/PIU ones.

My question is what the holy hell is IPS thinking? This sounds like something that would backfire horribly.

How fucked up is your tax situation when you have to put a school in the fourth floor of a God damn shopping mall?

I kinda wonder if that article is straight up click bait.

They put a library at Glendale Mall. My understanding is that has been pretty successful.

The linked article even says they've already done this in 20 other malls. I think you're letting your historical idea of a mall get in the way of what may actually make a lot of sense.

Let's face it, "the mall" is already a shaky concept in this day and age. I've gone walking through Castleton Mall several times in the past couple months and it is a pale shadow of the vibrant shopping area I remember it being when I was in high school. Outside of the food court, it is not very busy, there are lots of vacant storefronts, and it seems like at least 50% of the people there are doing exactly what I'm doing--walking, but not shopping.

If the space is available, I don't see any problem with utilizing it. It's probably a heck of a lot cheaper to repurpose an existing space than it is to build a whole new one. That 4th floor area has been pretty desolate for most of that mall's life. They had all those nightclubs up there (I think that was World Mardi Gras or something like that) in the early years back when Tilt/GameWorks was still Sega City, but I think that majority of that space has been vacant since.

Raise your hand if you want to go to school or have your kids go to school in a shopping mall.

I think we're gonna need Riot's opinion on this!

I dunno, I think it's a good idea. It's already an alternative school for at-risk kids. The mall setting gives a lot of opportunities for alternative and real-life activities, finances, marketing, etc. etc. I'm sure it will be separated out so that normal people aren't just able to wander up there and into the school area. When I student taught at a New Tech school in Columbus, IN, there was a mall across the street and we went over there as a class one day and took pictures of signs and advertisements for the graphic design class. It was pretty cool, but I can imagine there will be a lot of temptations for people to wander and try to get out which will be a huge headache for teachers/mall staff and security who will feel it's not their job to babysit.

This is assuming they renovate and stuff too, not just have giant open area with storefronts, etc.

Okay, so I think it's going in the space north of the college. I believe that's the only empty spot aside from the little shop area next to the mini golf place (which they might end up using for the school anyway).

Anyway, I went there today. SN2 is STILL offline. Pump is ok, P1 down right is somewhat undersensitive and P2 up right and center are very undersensitive. Otherwise it's fine. I got a PFC on Pump Me Amadeus on the P1 side.

DDR X is... well, DDR X. The P1 side is still working fine (left arrow squeaks though). The P2 side is unplayable though because the right arrow is stuck on. Also, the up arrow squeaks as well.

I noticed that the pads on the X are separating. Also, they flex a ton. To be honest, I'm getting worried that the stage is going to collapse while someone's on it. You know if that happens to the wrong person they're going to sue Tilt, Konami, Raw Thrills, Betson, and every other company involved in maintaining, distributing, and/or building the machine.

I actually had to wait for the X. There was this couple there that was playing. They actually were playing properly as well, and on Difficult/Expert too! Nice to see other people playing this game.

DDR X has been moved to a different tilt and is no longer at the Indianapolis store.

We are now down to a broken Supernova 2 cabinet and a half working PIU NX2 cabinet there. These are truly sad days.

The SN2 is also apparently the only public DDR machine in the area now. This sucks.

Remember when you couldn't go in an arcade without seeing some sort of dance simulation machine?

I was trying to follow the format of the previous statement, but mine probably should have read more like:

"Remember when there were arcades?"

Indeed. I think the demise of the arcade has embittered and saddened me. The one aspect that I feel worse about is my failure to best state my feelings about this decline as I attempted to approach topics related to this once and didn't do the best job in my opinion.
