While I personally prefer the main series to Pro, I neither hate Pro nor will I use this thread to discuss my opinions of it. However, my concern is that, to my knowledge, Pro has not received any content updates (new versions) with the exception of a 12 song update pack and I have not heard of anything definite on the horizon. Meanwhile, I believe we've had about 3 versions of the main series in the same time. With that said, I hope this machine at D&B doesn't end up stagnate.

From a technical standpoint, I would think that converting an FX cabinet from Pro to the main series would be a relatively simple matter. Has anyone ever heard of this being done? I think it would be rather amusing and confusing if the cabinet buttons were left installed in such a case.

Jboy switches between Pro and NX according to his youtube profile so it shouldn't be too hard. Pro was a good idea, but it does take some getting used to as Stepmania handles differently than the standard Pump engine. Also, Pro Debut songs that do appear on NX2/NXA will have different charts sometimes. (Of note being Energizer being at 300 bpm on Pro and being at 151 bpm for the regular series.) The main thing to keep in mind is that the series was intended to bridge between ITG and regular Pump and in that respect it does work pretty well.

Oh, from what I've seen of Dave and Busters in other areas machine hacking will not be allowed.

I remember Flakk mentioning that in the PIU section a while ago. I've heard nothing about it though so who knows if it will see the light of day.

Also, http://www.pumpproedits.com/ may interest those people playing there as Pro does allow for people to bring in their own stepcharts. (So if somebody wanted to play the NX version of Energizer, albeit at 300 bpm, they can do it.)

Perhaps there should be a merge of threads.

Yeah. It is, it's not even actually "hacking" so much as modifying. :P It generally isn't too hard to convince owners if you know how to word it in a way that says "hey, if we do this it might change a few things but it'll bring in more business"

Stopped by on my way home from work...

It's Dave & Buster's. It's what I expected...and that's not a bad thing.

I found the aforementioned Pump Pro machine and a couple of familiar, yet seldom seen (around here) faces.

Woah, is that Yume? She still exists? Amazing...

Is the machine at least set to the proper aspect ratio? I pretty much gave up on playing Pro when the Putt Putt machine had its monitor replaced with a laggy POS LCD and left on 4:3, but I wouldn't mind playing some of the half-double charts. If only it behaved like Pump, rather than DDR...

Nope. Jason and Chris will be the ones doing the haxoring, since they know what they are doing. Chris owns a Pro machine in his basement and Jason has been playing Pump longer than anybody, not to mention he made some of the stepcharts in Pro. I'll be pissed if you hax it and mess it up. For serious.

EDIT: Also, Custom songs will not work on the machine. The machine never came out with a patch or newer version that allowed you to do that. Soooooo, making 5 panel step charts is pointless. Just sayin'
