Actually... I haven't been pwning at all. It's kind of sad really...

I took a break for a while.. but for about the last two months I've been going to the arcade two-three times a week...

I can't PA for crap... I played a round last... Monday and I full comboed...
Abyss
59
Dam Daraiam
Freckles
Spin the Disk (I had 1 pad miss)

but... I just can't keep my greats down....

I always get somewhere between 50-80 greats on Abyss, but I can FC it almost every time.

Any technique tips on how to get my greats down?

Listen to the beat your steps make and play to the music not the arrows.

Learn to read faster speed mods, it puts more space in between the notes and gives you less room for error. Also, stomp.

tried that.... it's a lot harder than you would think...

and do speed mods really make that much of a difference?... I've always tried to play without them whenever possible... but... everyone else plays with them... *shrug*

praaactiiiiiice. :)

Playing flatfooted also helps. Try to conserve your feet movements as much as possible. Stomp as Dance1005 said. (not necessarily "stomp" but it should be an audible step)

Yes, speed mods do help. It makes the notes easier to read and does (once again from Danc) lessen room for error.

Or true, just become black. hahaha

Lessen room for error? I dunno about that, I'm sure your room for error is about the same.

Speed mods make you concentrate more on what is happening NOW. By eliminating the clutter, it helps you think more about what is happening, and less about what is going to happen in 3 or 4 steps.

Yaaa. That's what I meant, just didn't really break it down.

What I meant by lessen room for error is it makes them more spaced out so you can better see when the arrow is exactly on the note...it's harder to hit it as early or as late as on 1x because it's on the outline for a much shorter time.
And yes, letshavetea, speed mods DO make a huge difference.
As does bar-raping.
