Which song is better?

I'd contest that these are objectively two of the best songs ever, and history books will reflect this fact. Which is better?

I think Sandstorm is probably "bigger." But if we keep this in a DDR/Bemani context, Night of Fire, for sure!

Night of Fire is the better song but in 20 years people will still be playing Sandstorm and no one will still have heard of Night of Fire other than the spergiest of sperglords

Sandstorm is really good too though. It's a party in a can. Even the most elitist and discerning fan of electronic music still secretly loves Sandstorm. Meme status aside, I think I still have to give the edge to Night of Fire because it has vocals. Dududududu is not vocals.

Sandstorm was popular long before it became a Twitch meme. Sort of like the Snoop Dogg tracks from the early 2000s. Also your kids enjoy videos like that because they're children.

I first heard Sandstorm because it was one of the first good Dance With Intensity charts that was out before Stepmania was even a thing. Back in those days I think people had to make stepcharts by hand by editing a text file so the fact that the chart was even remotely playable was neat.

I first heard Night of Fire when I played it on Beet 6th Style CS back in like 2003. It's a good song and I think the L7 was hard for its time. I don't really have much to say other than I think the song was big in Japan at the time and it was (and still is) pretty effin obscure in the West.

Where did you guys first hear these songs?

Sandstorm - Who knows. My friends and I listened to a lot of Digitally Imported back in the day. I remember being in a car during highschool (2000-2001) and blasting the track on the way to an ultimate frisbee game. I was mostly into trance back then (when I wasn't listening to shitty alternative rock or slightly less shitty punk rock), and to be fair I still like a fair amount of stuff on the Anjunabeats label. Sandstorm and the Mortal Kombat song were an instant dance party. Sandstorm's simplicity and execution are top notch.

Night of Fire - Back before I played DDR, I had a highschool friend that loved all the weird Japanese stuff that now seems to be commonplace. He had an MP3 called "Gundam Wing - Knights Of Fire." According to some rando on the internet "This song was written and recorded for Gundam Wing, but was shelved as it was too intense for the theme they were going for. They went with "Just Communication" instead to reach the effect they were aiming for. They then sold the rights so that Initial D could use it for thier series." So yeah, I had no clue what the hell Eurobeat was, but I really liked Night of Fire. I think the next Eurobeat song I'd heard was from Gitaroo man "Flyin' to your Heart"
