In no way did anyone look for traces of pornographics.

5 hours into putting this bad boy together. Everything is plugged in and ready to go. 3...2...1... Lights! Fan! That's it! No video, and Dr. Debug gives me an error code 30. Looks like it could be related to memory. I'll have to try reseating the 3 sticks I have to see if that makes a difference. Would it matter which slots A1 A2 B1 B2 I use? Some reports also mentioned that it could be a damaged pin when I put in the cpu. Holy hell I really hope I didn't break anything. =\

Part two will be taking out the video card and just trying to get the on board card to work.

I need to get to bed, but it looks like another full day PC work tomorrow.

MERK: The downstairs is a total wreck. As soon as this PC is up and running, I'll clean it allllllll up.

Forgive grammar. It's been a long night.

What is Dr Debug error 30? Is that a beep code, or does it appear on the screen? What motherboard is it?

Probably. It should say in the motherboard manual I think. Try just putting 1 stick in A1 ?

Did you plug in the extra power connectors on the video card?

"Reserved for ASL (see ASL Status Codes section below)" There's a small set of numbers (looks like a calculator) that's on the mobo. The error itself came from the manual. My guess it it has something to do with how I slotted the memory.

I'll give it a shot.

Yeah, but I'm not sure I put in the right ones. Honestly I just found some wires that fit and assumed it'd work since they're probably standardized. Might have been a bad assumption, but the fans were working properly. I'm going to see if I can get the on-board card to work first.

Oh boy, I hope you didn't get really unlucky with the PCIe 12V Aux plugs...

Unfortunately, the ATX12V and PCIe AUX power uses a the same connector series, but flips the power and ground. This wasn't originally a problem, since the ATX12V was 4 pins (and would always be used) while the PCIe AUX was 6 pins. However, ATX12V is now 8 pins, and SOME PCIe AUX cards have 8 pin connectors, too. So, you sometimes end up with these weird breakaway arrangements on the cables from the power supply where you can effectively plug them into the wrong place. Doing so is...generally bad.

Of course, you've also got the main ATX 20/24 pin thing, which is breakaway on most power supplies. This leaves you with a little 4-pin thing hanging that you might at first think goes to the ATX12V header, but it won't work (it should at least shut the power supply down immediately).

Hopefully that's not what happened.
A normality test:
+++ATH
If you are no longer connected to the internet, you need to apply more wax to your modem: it'll make it go faster.
If you find this funny, you're a nerd.
If neither of the above apply, you are normal. Congratulations.

Updates:

By hour 8 I'd reseated the ram and removed the video card. For some reason 12gb of ram causes issues but 8 is fine. Working on putting on a windows install. It will boot into the bios and CPU temps are around 35. I am going to get windows up and running today and work on the video card next.

Bios is up and onboard video works now. Progress!

I'm going to use the power cable that came with it (shown in one of the pictures) that looks like it connects to one of the many similar cords coming out of the power supply. There's an 8 pin connector coming out of the power supply that I used and a 4 pin pci express with 2 pin next to it that also fit. This is a poor explanation, but I can't do much here at work.

That's a lot of work :X Sounds like you were just having a ram issue though. Maybe that mobo is fussy with its memory. The video card power connectors are 6pin (judging by the newegg pic), so I don't think the problem Brandon mentioned applies. Also the cables on your power supply might be marked. I think if it says PCIe AUX or something similar that's what you want. But the connector you mentioned is fine too I think. >_<

My build has only 4GB of ram, although my video card now has 2.5 GB. That's been plenty.

I think I'm going to buy the case you got, since after getting my new video card my computer has turned into an oversized heater. My video card is running between 75-85 C.

Yeah, I'm having a tough time with this one. Installing an aftermarket heatsink was a huge pain in the ass. Hoping to finish this timesink tonight.

Hour 10: Windows installed and everything working. I still can't get more than 8gb of ram to work on this thing, but I'll troubleshoot that later.

I plugged my case fans into the power supply directly rather than the mobo. Is this bad? Wasteful?

Video card runs between 69-77 degrees. Bad?

From what I've heard that's pretty normal, although I was hoping your case would do better than that.

You could turn the video card fan speed up: http://www.evga.com/precision/

I'm going to try that tonight.
