I guess I should have specified that you do not need a parachute or wings for the 2nd option.

Re: Hypothetical situation thread
Ok ok how about this:
1) Have everyone always lie to you
OR
2) Have everyone never lie to you
Suspend disbelief for a second and pretend that immediately after you choose your option you forget which one you picked. In other words, everyone always/never lies to you but you don't know which it is.

Re: Hypothetical situation thread
Yeah I'd probably go never as well but it might make me make too depressed. I mean, my mom will probably tell me I took away her freedom and that she regrets having kids, my girlfriend will tell me that she's unattracted to my fat ass, job interviewers will tell me I sound incompetent, my bosses will tell me I'm never going anywhere, my friends will tell me my only redeeming quality is my sardonic wit, and people will tell me outright they'd wish I was dead.
On the other hand ignorance is bliss and it will do wonders for my confidence and self-esteem!

Aren't these almost the same thing? If you know they're always lying, you'd be able to deduce the truth most of the time.
And here's my truth: Merk, stop being such an asshole.

Re: Hypothetical situation thread
The caveat is that you don't know what choice you picked, the fucking MIB comes and blasts your memory away with their laser-pointer shit. You know that everyone is either lying / not lying but you don't know what it is. I guess I should have specified that the degree of lying can range from subtle ("You look nice today") to enormous ("Merk is an asshole") but it will always be a lie. We all lie a little bit all the time to everyone about certain things but we sometimes tell the truth too, in this hypothetical we do not have the best of both worlds and must make a choice.Ho wrote:Aren't these almost the same thing? The choice between the blissful ignorance of illusion and embracing the sometimes painful truth of reality.

Read this one on OKCupid--
If evil forces made you choose to either watch tv OR read books for the rest of your life, you would:
1) Choose TV
2) Choose books
The believe the spirit of the question implies that all your needs (food, shelter, money) would be accounted for.

Re: Hypothetical situation thread
If you had to erase one song series from DDR forever, what would it be? There must be at least 3 songs (B2U, B4U, AM-3P, Paranoia, Trip Machine, Burnin' the Floor) to count. The Max songs are not a series. RevenG songs are not a series.
I'd cut out Paranoia. Most of them just sound like a bunch of beep-boop noises.

Re: Hypothetical situation thread
I could probably do away with Dynamite Rave. Paranoia is too iconic to let go and the non-10 charts are actually pretty good.
God damn it I thought of a good hypothetical over the weekend but I forgot what is was...

Re: Hypothetical situation thread
I totally disagree. The 10 charts are the only good ones. The non 10s are sorta turny 8th note steam snooze fests. PS and PSM are rewarding once you know what to expect, Respect might be the best 10 footer to date, and Hades is hard and fun for all of the right reasons.Merk wrote:I could probably do away with Dynamite Rave. I'm changing my answer to B4U.
