In music game related news I bought Beat Saber for my VR headset and downloaded like 200 custom songs including a bunch of DDR songs and dis game fun as hell

Ya gotta be real mindful with your hands! The two songs I played I remember struggling a bit because I would naturally tilt my wrist up to do a downward motion (like I was holding a real sword) and the game would interpret that tilt as an up swipe and I'd miss my little note for swiping the wrong direction!

Man Final Fantasy Tactics was a good game! It's a god damn shame no one has ever released anything like it - all those GBA spiritual sequels weren't very good! Give me exploitable mechanics and goofy anime political intrigue story lines all day.

Saw Brennon playing a game on Steam called Fell Seal: Arbiter's Mark. Reviews say it's a very similar spiritual successor to FFT. Tactical RPG, jobs, mature story, etc. Worth a look!

I set up a DJ booth in my basement and have been messing around with effects. Most of the SDVX stuff you can do with any ol' DJ controller. Did you know that a lot of DJ equipment is made in Nippon? I didn't! I'm a piece of shit!

I've been practicing for about 2 months now, so I'm definitely qualified to answer all questions.

If you want to mix tracks together, you'll need something more than an MP3 player. At its core, all you really need is something that can play two channels of MP3s and control the volume and pitch of each. Many manufacturers are going to market with basic intro controllers.

Controllers are nice for the same reason they're nice in videogames. It's easier to do the things you want with faders, knobs, and buttons than with a mouse and keyboard.

The rest of DJing is the 'art' side. Understanding how to move from key to key, using samples, adding fx, adjusting equalizers, scratching, playing to an audience, and wearing a gimmicky lightup helmet.

TBH it's pretty fun. I can mess around for an hour or two and not really get bored. Trying to blend tracks in interesting ways is surprisingly gratifying. The hardest part has been building up a library of MP3s to mix with. Spotify made me overreliant on streaming.

Hell it's a shame that US IIDX never took off but at least we got an actual good ass home controller out of it

Instructional VR is interesting. I guess you could learn how to do just about anything without having the actual object in front of you. Flight simulators have been around for a long time, but there are still plenty of things that cost > $500 that someone might want to see if they enjoy.
