Re: [Grubb's] Random Thoughts of the Day
k serious post.
Does anyone here have any real web app development experience? I have absolutely zero experience with MVC stuff and I'd like some pointers on a project I'm working on. I have a MySQL database that I want to pull and display data from as well as have users write data to - something simple. I've looked into Ruby on Rails and I'm not really digging the whole 'DON'T WRITE SQL USE OUR SHORTCUTS ITS SO EASY' vibe, I'm much more familiar with SQL itself and I'd like to write out my SQL code by hand instead of learning something entirely different to accomplish the same thing.
What language/framework do you guys recommend? Keep in mind I have no experience, so something catered to beginners would be nice. Are there any GUI-based design programs out there that would make creating a web app easier?
I'm developing in a Windows environment by the way to gain some experience outside of UNIX-based operating systems, so something easy to set-up in Windows would be a plus.

This is what many companies use, and there is a lot of documentation.

I'm not a developer, but I suspect some of the usual 'Microsoft Sucks' discourse following.

Might I suggest Angelfire?
