lol, yeah the video is fucking awful. I like the song itself though. Speaking of Immortal, look up Call of the Wintermoon if you haven't seen it yet. It's classic. Terribly classic.Amp Divorax wrote:WTF, Mother North by Satyricon? That is quite possibly one of the most f*cking rediculous metal videos I've ever seen in my life. (Albeit, they didn't top Immortal's videos.)
Have you listened to Iced Earth? You may like them based on your vocal preferences. But as far as metal goes, I prefer a band with a more dynamic vocalist (Tool, Iron Maiden, Dream Theater, Symphony X, etc.)
Personally, my tastes are varied when it comes to vocals. I'm not terribly picky, as long as it doesn't get on my nerves, and there's at least a tiny bit of variation. Even if the vocals are entirely growled, there needs to be differences in tone. I despise death metal (they're the most guilty of this) bands who have a vocalist who constantly grunts in the same, monotonous, low octave for an entire album. Cannibal Corpse's old vocalist is rather guilty of this.
I mostly listen to the music anyway, so it doesn't bother me too much if I can't understand all the lyrics. The tone and the feel of the vocals just has to mesh well with the sound and the atmosphere of the song. That right there is probably my biggest gripe with the band Dragonforce...the vocals don't do it for me. They seem to happy and chirpy to go with the intensity of the music.
