I'm going to move to Washington to learn self-discipline and get a monstrous work-ethic. Via attending Digipen.Merk wrote:What are your plans for after high school, Mr. Pokebis?
So, yeah, I'll be 3 hours behind you guys, have no time to play games, and probably join this site wishing I could attend the Gameworks in Seattle again, but still not having time or transportation.

PNWBemani is like 5 people who post. There's better arcades in the Seatac area (Acme and Narrows) than Gameworks. Bill (guy who does distribution and maintenance for like 5-6 arcades up there) is awesome, cares about music games and keeps constant communication with the community.Pokebis wrote:I'm going to move to Washington to learn self-discipline and get a monstrous work-ethic. I wish every community had a Bill.

PNWBemani sounds exactly like IndyDDR! They even have a Ho/MonMotha analogue in that William fellow.
Digipen! That sounds awesome, I'm happy that you'll get to go out and be cultured on the west coast and get what looks to be a good education at the same time. If you somehow, someway run into SDP tell him I said, "Oh, hello!"
Your new fwends:
They even have their own Secef, WhiteDragon, and Juwi Bean!
I wonder who their Merk is? He is probably banned.

POTTER! What do you want to talk about? I don't want you to think this place is boring. I've been tied up in Diablo III chat but now that I've beat Riot to level 60 I can go back to being a normal person again. What video projects are you involved in these days?
My biological brother finally got a cell phone, he is six years older than me.

^ like levels in Diablo are an achievement
If I had any idea you thought it was a race I would have not spent so much time helping all my other friends through stuff and getting them gear. Oh well now your character sucks anyway.

Compared to Gameworks that was in Indy (which is now the barely better Tilt) the Gameworks in Seattle was amazing. But maybe I was just infatuated by the Pop'n and Technika cabs. And DDR X2 seemed cool, but I had trouble using the stage for some reason.SoDeepPolaris wrote:There's better arcades in the Seatac area (Acme and Narrows) than Gameworks. I dunno, I'm really happy reading anything as long as I don't come check the forum and find zero new posts, that's the boring part
nothing very exciting film wise, still working with a studio here in post production. did the color grade on a riley hospital commercial last week, and a commercial for marian college the week before that. This week has been a lot of relaxing and trying to fix my sleep, which is barely working
do you keep in touch with your bro?
also Brandon did you ever get around to checking your fw900's? I'm due for my workstations monthly recal and need dat colorimeter back

So how do you get these gigs? Do companies approach you or are you the hunter-gatherer sales guy who seeks out clients?
My bro is not anything like me but we have a good relationship nonetheless. He's a real tightwad with his money and he lives at home because it's cheap yet he has no problem going to a casino and gambling a bunch on blackjack. Since my mom is a widow I don't have a huge problem with him living at home since he keeps her company but I can totally understand the Norman Bates vibe that that gives off. He has a good enough head on his shoulders to not become a fucking furry or a pedo. I feel like he doesn't have a lot of aspirations in life and I'm concerned he's a little depressed but he assures me that he's okay. He has a degree but he seems content with working at a loading & shipping company that he has worked at for a long time (6+ years), I don't know the details of what he does but I believe it's pretty blue-collar.
The Merkler children are all pretty unique in their own right. I'd say I'm solidly the most "normal" of the bunch if only because I followed the safe life path of College -> Steady girlfriend -> Menial, entry-level, white collar, full-time job that they teach about in school. Plus I have decent enough social skills to at least function in the business world - thanks college!

That gameworks is pretty rad, I've hung out there with BlackCat and... I can't remember her husband's username on here.
Either way, Mike and Katy jumped out there a while ago haha. What's Mike's username?

Actually, over the last year it looks like the IIDX, pop'n and drummani/gf cabinet have left Narrows and ACME. I guess Gameworks has a muuuuuch bigger selection than Bill's arcades at this point. The only reason to go to places other than gameworks would be for pump or itg2 I guess.
Merk, I thought the most similar person in the PNW community to you would be a guy who goes by Foti (variation of his last name too!). He quit college to pursue professional poker, though, so I think he's living out of more penthouses than you at the moment.

Did he get banned and does a small but significant part of the community hate him? He does sound a lot like me if he likes poker, I am way too prone to burnout so I couldn't handle the poker pro lifestyle.
Do you have a picture of this guy?
