That picture was so wrong, and yet at the same time so right!

Re: [Grubb's] Random Thoughts of the Day
So I got a job interview in Chicago for this position: http://www.mcas.com/company/careers.html
From what I gather the job entails supporting businesses with their information technology. Sort of like acting as a business' IT department if they don't have one. I'm kinda sorta qualified, haven't messed with Active Directory too much nor Exchange Server. How fucked am I?
Also, it's like right in the middle of downtown Chicago, two blocks from Grant Park. Would living there be hell?
INTERNET PLEASE RESPOND

I'm sure you'd be making enough that a short commute wouldn't be out of the question. Living in a suburb would be more ideal. If you live right in downtown Chicago there's like an 87% chance you will get shot over a ham sandwich or the $2.18 you have stuffed in your front pocket.

The MCSE books are a good start when it comes to these topics. Some practical application though would be recommended so if you have a spare computer or a virtualization program like VMware, setup Server 2003 and Exchange 2003 to play around with. Exchange can be unforgiving at first to newer users, but once it's learned it's not too bad. As long as this company doesn't use Exchange 5.5 (Which speaking from experience was a pain in the ass) you should be fine.Merk wrote:So I got a job interview in Chicago for this position: http://www.mcas.com/company/careers.html

You don't have to go too far out of town to find nice places to live. My wife has some friends who lived in downtown Chicago for a few years, and it actually wasn't too bad; you just have to check it out first and make sure it's OK. Be prepared to pay a CRAZY amount of money, though, for a decent apartment downtown.

You will come to cherish those friends as you get older.

Potter your videos always seem to have a slightly mesmerizing, trippy feel to them. I like em. I think what works the best is the time lapse stuff (especially towards the end of this video). If you could add a narrative or concept/structure to a video and continue to manipulate the time lapse and cool color correction you could produce some pretty good results. Especially with that camera being so crystal clear, it really works well in high contrast situations (like night time with a stark light, looked good).
