"But Dad I don't wanna go to the stupid Sta--"

"For the last time Ethan you get in the car or you're grounded!!"

Do you think the average DDR player can dance better than the average pretend Jedi can swordfight?

No, no I do not. I say that because swordfighting has a high floor and low skill ceiling. How fucking hard can it be to just swing a big piece of metal around?

Here's my mad reply.
I actually fenced épée a long time ago. Not exactly a lightsaber; it's a thrusting sword and the goal is to stab the other person with the tip before they stab you with your tip and you use the bellguard to parry and you can riposte and dodge and stuff. They had a nice little system where the tip of the sword had a device on it that detected a successful stab which was especially useful since sometimes each fencer's stab was within milliseconds of each other. I didn't play for very long, but it's a bit like the footsies in neutral in Street Fighter 4 except with your whole body and all of your attacks use your sword.

Honestly not sure how lightsaber duels would work, but I'd guess it's more similar to saber fencing? I've never fenced saber before so I can't comment on that. All the "lightsaber" fights I see is fat guys in T-shirts or bad cosplay repeatedly wacking each other's sword at weird angles and never actually attempting to hit the other person (which is probably a good thing because they aren't wearing protective wear). I can't really give a proper analysis on the skill involved in the game since I don't know the rules and have never tried it.

But if it was a real sword fight and you both stabbed each other within milliseconds, isn't there no real winner?

Do you think when Spanish was evolving that they fat-fingered the "j" key and that's why the "j" sounds like a "h"?

Jory shiiiii

Not if the rules are whoever gets stabbed first loses.
The swords have a switch on the tip of them and you're wearing protective gear so your skin shouldn't be penetrated so you're only stabbed being in the sense of the motion. It can still hurt a bit, but it won't cause any damage.

I think he's saying that if it were a real sword fight and not fencing, the result of both opponents getting stabbed within milliseconds would be that both opponents die and are therefore losers. :P

That's true, but it's not a real swordfight.
