Supposedly (according to the screens that say you're not allowed to use DDR aracdes outside of Japan), Konami lets the authors of the songs (and other art for that matter) retain the copyright to their works. This means that those artists are likely (though not guaranteed, they could have granted Ko...

I have a few arguments against ITG, but only one you guys would probably consider "constructive". Every ITG machine I have seen skips on a regular basis. That might be ok for a free program like StepMania, but if I'm going to pay money to play a game, you better believe that I would get angry if I ...

The only problem you're likely to run into with the GIMP is that its default settings as far as windows go isn't very good in MS windows. It likes to create lots of separate windows (rather than you Photoshop fans' favorite of MDI, which I personally dislike). If you're running a decent window manag...

Well I am just 12 weeks away from putting a cap on my Rose-Hulman career as a chemical engineering student. I must say that my 4 years at Rose have had the ups and downs and I'll give a break down of the goods and bads. First off, if you aren't interested in an engineering degree, don't bother comi...

If you think the "chick potential" at Purdue is low, I'd like to invite you to tour Rose-Hulman some time. Awesome school, not too many people of the female variety...

But then, I can't let you go to Purdue either. After all, friends don't let friends go to Purdue.

The preferred URL for accessing the pictures is guaranteed to change so that they can be managed using PHP (I can't invoke PHP on a .htm file). However, I'll try to make it so that there can be a redirect from the old URLs to the new style.

There doesn't appear to be any reason why I could not make it on those dates. Bloomington is fairly easy to get to from Terrible Hole, so I could probably show up at least one day.

"Oldfangled" too. The original popup ad was done using a javascript onLoad event. The way the popup blockers got around them while still allowing JavaScript to open new windows was to disable the creation of new windows during the onLoad event, since there was almost no legitimate use of this. Unfor...

Popups? What popups? Oh you mean the stupid Javascript-triggered-when-you-click-a-link things? Yeah, that's why I now browse with JavaScript turned off. That and I never have the flash plugin installed, let alone enabled. The advertisers will send us back to browsers from 1996 before you know it! Oh...

http://www.rose-hulman.edu/~martinbv/S3500001.JPG Or just take it to my basement :) You'll probably find that the type that are supposed to light up when you touch things won't work so well for anything other than line voltage AC (120Vrms, so don't touch it). A real multimeter (like $12 at Lowes fo...

Hum, looks very neat. Too bad there's no Linux support. Thing is, almost all HD stuff is delivered to you as MPEG2 anyway (it would be way to big to send uncompressed), and I'd like to save a recompression. The problem is that all the media giants are having a wet dream over the ability to restrict ...

Well yah I know that, but it seems like everyone and thier brother has Modded thier X-Box. Its just a silly wish. :D That's because Microsoft knows absolutely nothing about physical security of embedded systems. Of course, there's a fundamental issue here, and that's the whole issue of DRM (Digital...

I'd like to point out that all persons on the internet who claim to be women are actually dirty old men until proven otherwise. So I guess this means that Casey is fucking a dirty old man until proven otherwise. Not that that surprises me.

Well, you obviously don't know the wonder of free samples :) I called up Atmel and they were happy to ship me a few 8051 microcontrollers to play with. Also, as a Rose student, I can make circuit boards for free basically (there's a group of us with a set of drill bits and I can afford to provide so...

But still it would be nice, if sony made things that were easier to mod. You do know that the entire point is to make it as difficult as possible to "mod" right? Sony has contracts that stipulate robust region coding (for licensing purposes), and they stand to make more money from people buying mul...
